10/10 I absolutely loved my experience at Self Ctrl Photo Studio! The self-service concept is amazing you get access to professional lighting, monitors, and multiple backdrop options while having the freedom to take your photos at your own pace. I arrived early for my appointment, and she was kind enough to let me come in and get everything prepared before my actual 30-minute session began, which I really appreciated. The entire studio had such a great vibe, I got to connect my own music to the provided speaker, and one of the best parts was how affordable the experience was without sacrificing quality. My photos turned out AMAZING, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! 🙌🏾 I got to keep every. single. digital. Which was well over 200. I will definitely be back and highly recommend Self Ctrl to anyone looking for a fun, comfortable, and affordable way to capture professional-quality photos! Supporting a Black-owned business made this already amazing experience even more special. 🖤✨

I absolutely loved my experience at SELF Portrait Studio. It was such a confidence boost. Having unlimited photos was a huge plus and really allowed me to relax and enjoy the process. The quality of the pictures is amazing, especially considering how much more affordable this is compared to booking a traditional photographer. I actually preferred this experience because I could be completely natural in front of the camera, take my time, and try different poses without feeling rushed or awkward. I also loved that I had plenty of time for outfit changes, and the changing area was very convenient. The staff was super helpful and walked me through everything before leaving me with the private studio, which makes this perfect even for someone with zero camera experience. Such an amazing concept. I’m so glad this is now available in Charlotte, and I will definitely be back!

Overall, an amazing concept! I love the intimacy of taking your own professional photos. It’s very straightforward and easy. My only downside was arriving 30 minutes early, hoping we could change before our session started so our clothes wouldn’t wrinkle in the car. When I asked, I was told our time would begin regardless, even though we were early. So just keep that in mind when booking. Update: Customer service really does go a long way. We wouldn’t have minded changing in the restroom if using studio space was that big of a concern. The constant nickel-and-diming just feels excessive. The session was also booked for my two kids—were my husband and I supposed to book separate slots for ourselves, even though the photos were centered around them? Or were we expected to leave them in there alone? That mentioning of that was rather irrelevant.

My girlfriend booked us a session and we had a great time. We love that props were available and the freedom we had was great. Amazing vibe, amazing pictures, amazing staff. I’ll be coming back to take pictures for my birthday in May!

10/10!!!! Omg this was such an experience! Firstly shout out to the owners !! I am 8 months pregnant and fudged up the schedule day and came an entire day early ! They were so empathetic and accommodating AND still found a way to squeeze us in ! The space was clean ! Equipment was easy to use and i loved that you could call for help at any time!!! This place has changed the game! Our new family photo spot for sure !!

I enjoyed my time at this studio!! I brought my sister to help with poses and taking the photos for me. I actually wasn’t expecting the amount of props and sitting options, but I had sooooo much fun using them. The customer service was impeccable and I felt comfortable enough to show her my prom dress options. lol. I definitely recommend to play your own music through the provided speaker because it made the experience that much more enjoyable. Along with all the different ways to enjoy. The price of touching up all and I mean all photos was $35!!!! That’s crazyyyyy. The next time I need professional photos taken I will be showing back up!!!!!!!

We came in to take holiday pictures and we had a blast! Averielle and everyone at SELF are so kind and welcoming, and we had so much fun taking pictures. There are so many props to choose from and Averielle was always happy to help. I would 100% recommend SELF Portrait Studio!
