Pauahi Studio

My husband and I wanted to do a family photoshoot with our dogs for a while, but couldn’t decide where to go until we discovered Pauahi Street Photo Studio. It’s within walking distance for us, but there’s some street parking and municipal parking around the neighborhood. It was our first time ever doing a photoshoot so we were a bit nervous going into it. We weren’t sure how well our dogs would react, but everything turned out great!! Paul is very passionate and a true professional. He took some time to get to know our dogs and asked us if there was anything specific we wanted to target. By the end of the session, it was clear that Paul genuinely cares about his clients’ experience and the product he produces. We ended up getting the Ultimate Pet Portrait Experience, which includes complete high-resolution digital images, two 17x22, two 8x10 framed prints, and a full set of 5x7 prints! My favorites are the framed prints. They are absolutely beautiful, and I love passing by them in our apartment. We are so happy with what we got. Can’t recommend Paul’s services enough!

Pauahi Street Photo Studio was absolutely the right choice for my sonʻs actor headshots. Paul has this way of instantly making you feel comfortable, which only made my sonʻs photos turn out that much better. Heʻs a prompt communicator, and we received my sonʻs gallery of photos along with his retouched images quickly at a fair price. Weʻre so grateful to have worked with Paul and highly recommend him.

We had such a great experience with Paul! Parking in Chinatown was super easy with lots of street parking, and his studio was easy to find — great location with amazing natural light. Paul is the sweetest and so easy to work with, especially with kids. We have a 1- and 5-year-old and didn’t expect to get so many great shots, but he worked his magic! The turnaround time was incredible — we got our photos the very next day. Can’t recommend Paul enough! We’ll definitely be coming back year after year for our family portraits.

Paul was excellent with my puppy Miso who is very shy and reluctant. The images he was able to capture were great and we loved them all. Highly recommend!

My dog Bella and I had a wonderful experience at Pauahi Studio. Paul was so friendly to us both and spoiled Bella with many doggie treats throughout the photoshoot. He took breaks in between shots so that I could see how the photos were coming out and make adjustments as needed (fix my hair, change my pose, etc). At the end, we reviewed all of the photos together again and he offered to take more pictures if I desired. My edited photos were available a couple of weeks later.

In November of 2024 we booked a black & white photo session with Paul at his studio in downtown. The session was mainly for our pup, Tequila. Tequila is a reactive to new people so we informed Paul about how she might bark at him if she gets startled. He worked with us patiently to have us feel comfortable. Once we started we realized she was scared of the flash. Luckily his spacious and high ceiling studio let in beautiful natural light to provide us with great lighting. So no flash was used in our session. Paul gave us so many wonderful photos to choose from. Our package included 3 framed photos but it was so hard to narrow it down. The framed photos look so pretty in our home and it always brings a smile to our day. We are so happy we got to work with Paul to create an awesome core memory that we can relive through our photos!

You guys, please don't sleep on the photography magic of Paul Strouse! He has photographed my husband and our fur baby multiple times and he truly is just the best! He is knowledgeable, patient, beyond kind, never rushed, his studio feels so comfortable and he makes the whole experience a dream. Thank you Paul for not just taking photos but creating memories Chris and I will treasure forever. Thank you for being our island ohana and big ❤️ always!
